OK. I took the one on the left, of the previous two I had uploaded, and I added the jacket from the one on the right. Then I made the jacket tomato-colored and changed the coloring/pattern on the pants and torso to fit better, and also altered the colors on the boots. Other than that, it's the same, including the off-the-shoulder part underneath the jacket, which you can't see here because she's wearing it.

How this reflects me as a designer/my design ethic:
Well, let's start with the most obvious part. It's really flamboyant. I love flamboyant, brightly-colored, unusual, stands-out-like-a-sore-thumb things.
When I started out sketching jumpsuits for this challenge, I was really thinking about a sort of industrial look. That's what I think of when I think of jumpsuits. It inspired the cargo pants and the rolled up sleeves of the jacket.
The idea for tucking the pants into the boots came from two sources of inspiration (and when I say "sources of inspiration", I'm here refering to things that have influenced my designs in the past as well): Gothic looks, where guys frequently tuck their cargo pants into their boots, and also a sort of harem-girl look, which I also tried to incorporate into the design with the off-the-shoulder sleeves.
The button closures on the jacket and the furry boots were inspired by a sort of serbo-croatian military look (I'm having trouble explaining all this, but hopefully you understand what the heck I'm talking about. ^^; ).
The chains attatched to her waist are also inspired by the Gothic look, which I'm very fond of.
If I'd made this in very dark colors, most of the influences would stand out more & be more obvious. But, like I said, I enjoy bright colors and flamboyant looks, and I was inspired to use this pattern by *lonesome-stock on the outfit because it was so bizzare. In the previous version, the pattern was fainter and looked almost floral, but you can clearly see here that it's not. The rest of the color pallete was inspired by the pattern I used.

Oh, and because you can't tell from looking, I feel I should mention a few things.
- The midsection/torso of the jumpsuit is sheer.
- The off-the-shoulder sleeves are actually a wide flap of fabric, attatched to the rest of the torso, and then allowed to flop over. If she unfolded it it would drape around her neck. Kind of. This is hard to explain.

So, my design ethic. I design stuff that is fun, flamboyant, bizzare, ect. I also try to mellow down my personal style, usually, so it will appeal to more people, but I didn't hold back at all with this one because I wanted it to be "quintesentially me".
I do usually prefer cool colors, but I've been using warm colors all through this competition and, to be honest, this looks much better in warm colors than it would in cool.
Finally, I like to experiment. A lot. You can of course find commonalities in my designs, but there's so much experimentation going on that I have a lot of stuff that doesn't seem to connect very strongly with the rest of my work.

You colored this is photoshop didn't you?

I admire your ability. . . I'm like a PS reject. . . v_v I need some pointers. . .

Still, it's very cute, and though I didn't read your whole explanation I really like the style of the jumpsuit. Very cute, not tacky at all. Plus the orange looks lovely.

FAQ #232: How can I increase my pageviews?
:iconluai-lashire:
:D Thanks! I actually colored it in GIMP, not ps... they're very similar though. Except ps is expensive and GIMP is free. Which rocks! :)

FAQ #232: How can I increase my pageviews?
:iconluai-lashire:
No.... I made a seperate layer in GIMP for the pattern, and adjusted the opacity (which makes it more see-through-y), and used the smudge tool to get it to fade like that.

You can download GIMP here: [link] or any number of other sites, actually, since it's free. :D
GIMP has an excellent and very detailed help manual, so if you have no clue how to work any of the tools, that's OK because it'll teach you stuff.
And then if you discover you can't use it or don't like it, it didn't cost you anything, unlike PS! :D

Cool, Cool, Cool.

I actually just figured out the easy way to color in photoshop last night so I'll keep trying that for a while but thanks!

I love how you combined the best of the two earlier designs to make one awesome design! And the color selection is gorgeous.

LOVE THIS. My personal favourite of all the entries. Love the colour, the cut, the pattern - everything! I detest jumpsuits with the passion of a thousand suns, but I would totally wear this if I had the skin for it. Excellent job.

(I'm not quite sure why the judges hate pouffy pants, but I think it's a personal thing and there's nothing wrong with 'em.)

There are as many kinds of love as there are people.
:iconluai-lashire:
Mmm, yeah, you're probably right (about the judges). I did explain where the inspiration for the pants came from and why it was in keeping with the theme of the challenge, but I guess that when they are judging "fashionability" they are really judging "what we personally like". :p

Thanks. :D
