Colored version.
This is my entry for Le Beau Monde (LBM) fashion contest, challenge 1. The challenge was to design a day look and a night look inspired by a piece of architecture. I chose the Sydney Opera House.

Day Look
The corset is made of burnished aluminum and was inspired by the Opera House's windows: [link]
Underneath is a capsleeve shirt made of a sheer silk.
Also worn are white-fading-to-greyish-brown denim pants (NOT a typical denim color; denim is often made in other colors as well). I wanted a rough material to represent the concrete bottom of the opera house, which is also represented by the colors.
Over the corset, she wears a cropped jacket made of white leather. Its sleeves are layered and molded to resemble the shape of the Sydney Opera House.
Accessories are a sheer silk belt (I was going to remove this, but I was short for time, so it was either remove the belt, or color it- I chose to color it), and tall white boots.

Night Look
This gown is made of two materials. The top layer of the skirt is made of a flowing, light silk and represents the waterfront beside which the opera house stands. The grey underlayer is also silk. The shoulders are made of a thicker, more firm material; I wasn't sure what that would be, so I looked around online and I think cotton organdy would work, covered with another layer of silk.
The shoulders are complex so I will take a little time to explain their construction.
They are attached to the dress on the chest and the center of the back, but other than that do not touch the rest of the gown. They are made of a stiff material and creased, folded, and wired into place so that the fabric holds its form. Each shoulder is one solid piece of fabric, folded and creased into these shapes. The shape was inspired by the shape of the Sydney Opera House in its entirety.

i love the way you coloured it. very good colour choice. i think that those subtle colours compliment the bold shapes of the garments well. good work!

great work, I think you've really captured the style of the building by using some of its more recognizable features in both of the designs. I also think that the colors you used complement each of the looks nicely.
